“MAKERS: Women in Space” traces the history of women pioneers in the U.S. space program, and features the next generation of women engineers, mathematicians and astronauts — the new group of pioneers who continue to make small but significant steps forward.

Following the 60 minute screening, there will be a panel discussion led by Sarah Prosory, Mesa THINKspot Coordinator; Kathy Collins, Boeing Attack Helicopter Engineering Integration Leader and Brittney Cunningham, Girls in Tech Phoenix Managing Director.  Mesa THINKspot will be conducting a 3-D printing demonstration, and showing samples of 3-D printed jewelry. Westwood High School Robotics Club, an award winning robotics team will showcase robots built by high school and elementary school students.

The City of Mesa Office of Diversity, City of Mesa Human Relations Advisory Board, Mesa Public Libraries, Independent Television Service and Eight Arizona PBS present Community Cinema, a monthly series of free movies throughout the year, along with post-show discussions.

The next film on Thursday, Nov. 6 is “Evolution of a Criminal.”  In this gripping blend of documentary, true crime and personal essay, a filmmaker confronts his past, dissecting the circumstances that led him to commit a bank robbery as a young man, and his journey of reflection and forgiveness.
