Schnepf Road in San Tan Valley Arizona.San Tan Valley's New Library is Now Open

The library takes up just a portion of the 50,000 square-foot city building complex composed of two buildings. The north building is 30,000 ft.² and the south building is 20,000 ft.². This new complex will be housing services and departments such the PCSO substation, the family advocacy center, community development services, the clerk of the Superior Court services, the accessors’, recorders’ and treasurers’ offices, adult and juvenile probation offices, community multipurpose rooms, and the board of supervisor and staff offices.

The new community complex took $16 million in funding that was part of a larger $63 million bonding package to save the county more than $200,000 per year on the buildings that it was currently leasing for county government purposes. Many in the community, including those working for the county, are excited to see San Tan Valley finally get this complex as they feel San Tan Valley was overlooked and the area is continuing to grow showing that there is much need to consolidate services into one central area.

The library of course is one of the most exciting aspects of the new complex. It is 9500 ft.² of space in the northern building, with eight study areas, kids and adults reading sections, computers, multipurpose rooms, conference rooms, and more. The library is home to over 20,000 different articles available to be borrowed/checked out with a library card. Several people are excited to finally see a library come to San Tan Valley.

In addition to being able to borrow several great books, movies, video games, magazines, and more there will be several community programs and activities run through the library for which to keep citizens of all ages engaged in meaningful activity and hobbies while getting to know their neighbors in the San Tan valley. There will be many happy kids enjoying story hour in the cute new kids’ corner of the library very soon for example.

You can sign up for a free library card at the library or online. Library cards are free to all residents of Pinal County, and Maricopa County residents may use the library with a $25 library card fee. All you need is a photo ID and a current address or a utility bill or school mail with a current ID to be able to receive your library card. Any resident that already has a Pinal County library card will be able to use the San Tan Valley library with this card as it is part of the entire Pinal County branch and system of libraries.

The library will be open on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 AM to 6 PM and on Friday and Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM. The library is closed on Sundays and Mondays to the public.
