They are now obsolete due to HUD policy changes in 1976. They have since been replaced by modern manufactured homes. This distinction is important. You can get a mortgage on a manufactured home…you can not get a mortgage on a mobile home. So if you see that a manufactured/mobile home is built after June 15. 1976 you can get a mortgage on it. Otherwise it is a cash purchase.
